Welcome to another edition of The Hoops Insider, where we bring you the latest and greatest updates from the world of hoops. This week, we cover the top 3 standouts thus far from the NBA Summer League in Vegas! Let’s hop right into it!

#1 Stephon Castle (San Antonio Spurs)

Former UConn standout Stephon Castle made an amazing NBA 2K25 Summer League debut. In a head-to-head battle against his former teammate Donovan Clingan, Castle led the Spurs to an 83-77 victory over the Blazers. His aggressive mindset resulted in 22 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and a steal. His ability to control the pace of the game and make key plays in crucial moments highlights his potential as a rising star in the league. Keep an eye on this dynamic guard as he continues to impress and develop his skills.

#2 Brandon Miller (Charlotte Hornets)

The No. 2 overall pick from last year’s draft, Brandon Miller, picked up where he left off. In the Hornets’ 94-90 win over the Knicks, Miller delivered 23 points (7-of-16 FGs, 5-of-10 from beyond the arc) and grabbed eight rebounds. His performance demonstrated his shooting prowess and versatility on the court. As Miller heads into his sophomore season, he promises exciting growth and will undoubtedly pose challenges for opponents. His continued development will be crucial for the Hornets as they aim to climb the ranks in the Eastern Conference.

#3 Jaime Jaquez Jr. (Miami Heat)

Jaime Jaquez Jr., a fan favorite, showcased his value in his 2024 Vegas debut. The Heat defeated the Celtics 119-114, thanks to his impressive stat line: 29 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, and a steal. Jaquez Jr.'s hustle, highlight dunks, and seasoned play have solidified his spot in the rotation, making him an essential asset for the Heat's future. His ability to contribute significantly on both ends of the floor and his leadership qualities make him a player to watch as the season progresses.
